Stony River man's body found

ANCHORAGE (May 19, 12:35 p.m. ADT) - The body of a Stony River man was found after missing for months from a snowmachine accident, Alaska State Troopers said Monday.

Boaters found the body Sherman Willis, 53, Saturday about 4 miles down river from Lime Village. His body was caught on a log, troopers said.

Willis was reported missing in late February after he and Wassillie Macar, 53, also of Stony River, rode a snowmachine into open water.

The two were traveling from the village of Stony River to Lime Village by using the Stony River.

Macar was driving the machine and managed to get out of the water.

The area was searched, but Willis' body wasn't found, troopers said.

Willis' death is believed to have been an accident, troopers said.
